The Flex series is the culmination of research aimed at transforming the molecular structure of the canvas (linen or cotton) using a personal method developed by the artist.
This process renders the material flexible enough to create three-dimensional forms without compromising the paint layer applied to it—a layer that would normally crack on such a flexible surface.
The color is applied using another technique—layering—characteristic of María Viñas’s work; this method aims to create a visual vibration for the viewer that intensifies the chromatic impact.
La serie flex es la culminación de una investigación para transformar la estructura molecular del lienzo ( lino, algodón) a través de un método propio creado por la artista para transformarlo en un material lo suficientemente flexible para crear un volumen sin afectar a la capa de pintura que va sobre él y que en circunstancias normales se craquelaría sobre un tejido flexible.
El color se aplica mediante otro método de capa sobre capa característico en la pintura de María Viñas cuyo objeto es crear una vibración en el ojo del espectador que enfatiza la intensidad cromática.
