The Relief series features paintings in which volume is created through the deconstruction and subsequent reconstruction of the canvas, employing techniques such as textile pattern-making, a canvas-stiffening process (developed by the artist herself), the layering of glazes to produce an optical vibration that enhances color, and sewing.
This series explores the intersection of disciplines that share the same raw material—namely the textile industry, sewing, and painting, or architecture and painting, offering alternatives for eliminating sharp angles, as seen in the Triangle pieces.
Having frequently worked in the fashion world, the artist views this as a natural evolution of her artistic language: a way to address her creative inquiries by engaging with the various disciplines that shape her daily work.
At the same time, this series serves as a gestational stage for later bodies of work that reflect on volume, such as Flex and Icons & Ions.
As with all her work, the viewer’s reaction to the presented volumes, compositions, and colors is essential to the artist, as these responses are an integral part of the creative inquiry.
La serie relieves presenta pinturas en las que el volumen se crea mediante la deconstrucción y posterior reconstrucción del lienzo utilizando técnicas como el patronaje textil, la rigidación del lienzo ( creada por la autora), la costura en general y la superposición de veladuras para crear una sensación de vibración optica que enfatiza el color.
Esta serie investiga la intersección entre disciplinas que utilizan la misma materia prima como la industria textil, la costura y la pintura, o la arquitectura y la pintura, ofreciendo alternativas para matar ángulos como en las piezas triangle.
La artista ha trabajado a menudo en el mundo de la moda y esta es una evolución muy natural de su lenguaje; encontrar respuestas a sus inquietudes como artista en diferentes disciplinas con las que colabora en su día a día.
Esta serie, a su vez, supone una etapa de gestación de posteriores series que relexionan sobre el volumen como Flex o Icons & Ions.
Como en todas sus obras, para la autora son fundamentales también las reacciones del espectador ante los volumenes, composiciones y colores propuestos, ya que estas forman parte de su investigación pictórica.
